Greenville, SC (November 6, 2024), The Greenville County Republican Party (GCRP) is celebrating the end of an incredibly successful election season and the party’s broad scope of impact and engagement across the county. The GCRP saw thousands of volunteer man-hours come to fruition with several key wins in Greenville County, as well as in the South Carolina House, the South Carolina Senate, and the U.S. Presidential election.

Renowned for its America First agenda, the GCRP is celebrating Tuesday’s Trump/Vance win. “We’ve never seen such enthusiasm and passion in an election cycle,” says GCRP Chairman Yvonne Julian, “so our local results — mirroring common-sense conservative and family-oriented values we see in the national results — are not surprising in the same way we saw the national Republican party successfully pulling in influencers from other parties,” says Julian. “The People of Greenville County were clearly ready to unite against corruption, and to prioritize transparency, common sense, safety and the
freedoms spelled out in the constitution.”

Leading up to election day, hundreds of first-time visitors stopped in to GCRP headquarters to get involved, picking up lawn signs, merchandise and asking how to volunteer. “Having a tax increase heavily and mysteriously marketed to voters, with a big budget, no less – was a huge red flag which drove a lot of conversation,” explains Julian. The misleading “penny tax” – actually a 17% increase – was voted down on Tuesday. To help defeat the tax, the GCRP worked in conjunction with Americans for Prosperity phone banking and educating Greenville voters on the issue.

The Greenville County Council saw Republican candidates flip the council to a conservative majority, repeating June primary wins with November successes. The winning candidates, having run on themes of transparency and common sense, include Kelly Long (District 18); Curt McGahhey (District 21); Frank Farmer (District 22); Garey Collins (District 27); and incumbent Steve Shaw (District 20). We congratulate Sarah Dulin on her re-election to the Greenville County School Board.

The GCRP celebrates success at the state level by maintaining our Republican stronghold with Greenville County contributing to a super majority in both SC House and Senate. The GCRP also impacted races in other counties, helping to defeat incumbent Charleston Sheriff Kristin Graziano with phone-banking for her opponent Carl Ritchie.

“We sponsored multiple candidate forums and opportunities for citizens to meet candidates and ask questions,” says Julian. “I’m proud of our hard work, and the great results we’ve just seen,” states Julian.

Notable 2024 Election achievements for the impressive GCRP volunteer force include the following:

  • at the request of the Trump campaign, we sent a team to Cobb County, GA for targeted door knocking late in the cycle.
  • recruiting and supporting outstanding conservative candidates.
  • trained over 150 poll watchers, enough to cover most precincts in Greenville County.
  • staffed the party headquarters and phones six days a week: meeting with hundreds of voters and answering their questions, assisting them with voter registration, finding their polling location and finding their sample ballots along with other types of assistance.
  • ranked 5th among teams across the entire United States, for quantity of campaign phone calls into battleground states on behalf of President Trump (numbering in the thousands).
  • wrote and mailed thousands of postcards to voters in battleground states.
  • sign and flag waving for several candidates, on multiple days, during early voting.

“Our volunteers have accomplished tremendous outreach into the Upstate community,” concludes Julian, “educating people about voting, the candidates, and how to get involved. Just because the election is over doesn’t mean our work stops. Now we start working with newly elected officials and all
the new supporters we’ve met, connecting them with like-minded neighbors and events. We will continue to be watchdogs for The People, making sure their values are represented.”
