Greenville, SC (November 21, 2023) – On Tuesday Simpsonville voters went to the polls, electing conservative Chad O’Rear for City Council in Ward 1, in a runoff election against Democrat Erin Medlin. Medlin’s platform was far left.
“Congratulations to Chad,” says Greenville County Republican Party Chair Yvonne Julian. “Simpsonville needs his leadership to help it avoid some of the pitfalls now plaguing the City of Greenville: unchecked, unwanted high density development, and a planning commission packed with people who benefit from such development.“
Julian also acknowledges the dedicated work put in by the GCRP’s campaign team and its Simpsonville leaders, calling O’Rear’s election “great mission fulfillment.”
692 voters participated in the runoff. 353 votes were cast for O’Rear, and Medlin received 339. These are unofficial results until the election certification on Wednesday, November 22nd at 2pm in Simpsonville City Hall.
