Lesson #1 – Political parties are the organizations that give us candidates for elected office. Each political party certifies or approves candidates running under their party’s label. South Carolina currently recognizes nine political parties.
Lesson #2 – Our country is essentially a two party system with the Democrat and Republican parties being dominant. Friends or family may identify as “Independents” but this is not a recognized political party.
Lesson #3 – The Republican Party is an independent organization to elect conservative candidates. Party leaders and members are Republican voters, like you, who volunteer a portion of their time to recruiting and electing Republicans.
Lesson #4 – Watch what they do and not what they say. How do you know if your elected Republicans are living up to the principles and agenda of the Republican Party? Republican voters choose leaders who represent their neighborhoods at their county party. The counties chooses representatives to the state and the states elect representatives to the RNC.
