Greenville County Republican Party Chairman’s Statement on President Trump’sTruth Social Post involving the Obamas
Greenville, SC, February 6th, 2026 – The Greenville County Republican Party (GCRP) issued the following statement regarding the matter of a reposted image or video involving the Obamas that US Senator Tim Scott (R – SC) described as racist:
We have not personally viewed the original post, and at this point, we can find no record of it remaining online. What exists are various conflicting accounts and media reports about its content and context.
According to those reports, as soon as President Trump was made aware of the concern, the post was promptly removed. While it appeared on an account associated with his administration, the swift action demonstrates responsible oversight, identifying an issue and addressing it without delay.
Jeff Davis, Greenville County Republican Party Chairman stated: “Above all, let us be clear: President Trump can and will be critiqued on many fronts, policy decisions, leadership style, and more, but accusations of racism do not align with his long public record or character. We reject that characterization outright.”
Davis added: “This episode appears to be another instance of heightened partisan framing rather than a substantive issue. We encourage focusing on the serious challenges facing our nation and working together to address them.”
