Greenville, SC (June 14, 2023) – The Greenville County Republican Party congratulates Mayor Knox White on winning our
Republican primary. We are proud that our party presented voters with options of two
qualified candidates who ran great campaigns, in keeping with elections as our Founding
Fathers envisioned.

Speaking of our Founding Fathers, a segment of the Patriot Academy Biblical Citizenship course
which our Civic Engagement committee sponsored, gives viewers a great education on the
impact of low election turnout. I thought about that segment when seeing our single digit numbers of
primary voters, that left me speechless. In contrast for example, the recent mayor’s
race in Chicago had greater than 32.6% turnout which their local press considered “anemic”. The
sentiment of our tireless volunteers in the GCRP as we discussed yesterday’s result, was that we
need to double down on our efforts to engage voters. We don’t want Greenville to become the
kind of city where people have given up and dropped out because they don’t think their vote
